Getting started

Install Consentico

Get Consentico installed on your Shopify store in under five minutes.

Consentico installs like any other Shopify app. The full setup — app install, theme app extension activation, first scan, and first consent log — takes most merchants under five minutes.

1. Install from the Shopify App Store

Visit the Consentico listing, click Add app, and approve the requested permissions when Shopify prompts you.

Consentico requests minimal permissions. We need:

  • Read themes — to detect whether the cookie banner app embed is enabled in your active theme

That's the entire scope footprint at install time.

2. Complete onboarding

After installation, you'll land on the in-app onboarding flow. It walks through:

  1. Welcome — confirms what the app does and shows the rough setup time.
  2. Compliance posture — pick your region (EU/UK, US, Brazil, or worldwide). This sets sensible defaults for which categories are pre-enabled and whether to show the banner to all visitors or only EU/CCPA-state visitors.
  3. Enable the banner — click the deep link to open your theme editor with the Consentico app embed pre-flipped on. Click Save in the theme editor.
  4. Done — you're returned to the dashboard.

3. Verify the banner is live

Open your storefront in an incognito window. Within a second of page load, you should see the Consentico banner. If you don't, check:

  • The theme app embed is enabled (Dashboard → "Banner not enabled?" warning will tell you)
  • You saved the theme editor after enabling
  • You haven't disabled the banner from inside the Consentico settings page

Dashboard → Scan my store. The scan crawls your homepage, product pages, cart, and checkout, then categorizes every cookie and script it finds.

A first scan typically takes 30–90 seconds for a small store. Larger catalogs on the Business plan can take 2–5 minutes for a 500-page deep scan.

The scan output includes:

  • A 0–100 compliance score
  • Per-category cookie counts
  • A list of unblocked tracking scripts (anything that loaded before consent — these are your immediate fixes)
  • A per-cookie disclosure that automatically appears in the banner's preferences modal

5. You're done

Consent decisions are now landing in the Consent Logs page. Google Consent Mode v2 signals are firing. Tracking scripts are blocked until consent.

What to do next

  • Customize the banner — Settings → Customize. Change colors, layout, and copy.
  • Set up geo-targeting (Pro+) — Settings → Geo. Show the banner only to EU/EEA/UK visitors and run unblocked elsewhere.
  • Export consent logs (Pro+) — Consent Logs → Export CSV. Useful for audits and DSAR responses.
