Quick Answer

Every time a visitor accepts, rejects, or customizes their cookie preferences, Consentico logs it. View logs in the dashboard, export as CSV for audits.

What gets logged

For each consent decision, we record:

FieldDescription
TimestampWhen the decision was made
Consent choicesWhich categories were accepted/rejected
CountryVisitor's country (from IP, not stored)
Page URLWhere the consent was given
Banner versionWhich version of your banner was shown
Consent IDUnique identifier for this decision

We don't store IP addresses or any personally identifiable information. The country is derived from IP at the time of consent but the IP itself is discarded.

Viewing logs

Go to Consent Logs in the Consentico dashboard.

You can:

  • Filter by date range
  • Filter by consent type (accepted all, rejected all, customized)
  • Search by consent ID

Exporting logs

Available on Pro and Business plans.

  1. Go to Consent Logs
  2. Set your date range
  3. Click Export CSV

The export includes all fields for the selected period.

Use cases for exports

  • GDPR audits — Prove you're collecting valid consent
  • DSAR responses — Find a specific visitor's consent record by ID
  • Legal disputes — Show exactly what notice was displayed when consent was given
  • Internal compliance reviews — Track consent rates over time

How long are logs kept?

PlanRetention
Free30 days
Pro365 days
BusinessUnlimited

If you're on the Free plan and need longer retention for compliance, consider upgrading to Pro. GDPR recommends keeping consent records for as long as you process the data.

Each log entry includes a snapshot of:

  • The exact banner text shown to the visitor
  • The categories offered
  • Your privacy policy URL at the time
  • Whether geo-targeting was active

This proves what the visitor actually saw when they made their decision — important for GDPR Article 7 ("conditions for consent") compliance.
